I'm certain this is something that has already been discussed, but I
wanted to bring it up just in case. Is Farsight -
http://farsight.freedesktop.org/wiki/ - something planned or considered
as a backend for QuteCom? If I understand it correctly, it is an
abstraction layer for supporting audio/video protocols. Here's a
description from their page:

> The Farsight project is an effort to create a framework to deal with
> all known audio/video conferencing protocols. On one side it offers a
> generic API that makes it possible to write plugins for different
> streaming protocols, on the other side it offers an API for clients to

It is already being used on a number of free-and-open-source projects,
so it might have a place in QuteCom - if not for 2.2, then perhaps for
some upcoming version. I'm certain it would be great to have the
support of various protocols come in for free.

Obviously, the big "if" is if this support will extend to Windows & Mac
platforms. I have no answers for that, but maybe that is an area where
QuteCom can contribute back to the Farsight team?

Just throwing it out there, and I fully understand the QuteCom
developers have more than enough on their plates as it is. I wish I
could contribute more than just ideas at this stage...

I found out about this from this blog post on Planet GNOME:
