I use XP home edition. I did what you said about going into the options menu
and it still doesn't work.

Hi,
The only time I've noticed MIDI going dea is when you put the computer on
standby or hybernate. I've never had it go dea when just doing editing.
But there again, I don't use the Microsoft GS MIDI.
The problem of playback being silent shouldn't have anything to do with
Local on or off, Local messages are to do with what happens when you play
a note on a real MIDI keyboard - see the article on the website,
http://qws.andrelouis.com.
Out of interest, what version of Windows are you using?
I found there's a simple way to reset the MIDI in QWS - note this closes
and reopens the MIDI ports, it does not reset any MIDI devices: Simply
choose Options -> Ports from the menu and just choose OK.
Well, hope this helps.
James.
