Dave, that’s pretty cool.  The good news is that it won’t have an R-390/A 
inside.  I’ve shipped one.

To start the discussion, I’ll offer some ideas.  Others will surely have better 
ones.  

First wrap the box with large-bubble bubble-wrap to attain about 2”-3” of 
protection all around.  Next, select a shipping box size which will allow room 
for the bubble-wrapped old box plus at least 1” or 2” building insulation foam 
board lining completely around the inside of the the shipping box, using only 
one foam piece per side, end, bottom and top, each; not a bunch of loose pieces 
of foam board.  Though the shipping box’s size may have been customized, the 
result will probably still leave voids between the bubble-wrapped old box and 
the foam board lining.  If so, stuff small segments of small-bubble bubble wrap 
or newsprint into those voids.  A fairly tightly packed interior reinforces the 
exterior of a shipping box.
