I'm chuckling at that...

Hi
I’m guessing that the “convert to PDF” gets them a long ways towards being
saved for the future. It may or may not be some sort of “one at a time” manual
process.
If the index / list can be turned into something else, the first step *might*
be something like an Excel spread sheet. Search the description field, get a
number, go grab that PDF. It that clunky? you bet it is. Still, you can open
some really old Excel spreadsheets. It also is a pretty good “long term” format.
Yes, shoving it all into IMDb and doing a front end in Grafana would be way
more cool. How long either of them hang around? Who knows …. Finding folks who
know that stuff *and* have an R-390 orientation, also who knows.

The indexer shows only the drawing number which is not all that helpful.
There is a drawing number list with description in the drawing set that helps
some. What would be great is to rename the docs to match what’s in them but
that would be very tedious.
I renamed a few of the more important ones.

Hi
Just a thought:
If there *is* a process to convert these all to PDF, that would be a good
thing to document.
My guess is that the index is in some weird format and well into the “good
luck with that” department.

I spent a good bit of time trying to housebreak the R-390A drawing set
today. They are in C4 format. The original indexer and viewer would not work on
my PC as the apps are 25 years old. I found newer apps online but still could
not get the indexer to work so I was flying blind in the documents (over 900)
but eventually found the knob drawings.
I then converted them to PDF. See below.
