This position is in the cotton physiology program directed by Dr. Derrick
Oosterhuis. Research will be conducted to evaluate the mode of action of
a new plant growth regulator incorporating Bacillus cereus. Studies will
include effects on gas exchange, carbohydrates, metabolites generated, and
dry matter partitioning. The study will also include the effects of
environmental stresses on related physiological processes and yield
formation. The program will involve field and controlled environment
studies and opportunities for working and communicating with agro-chemical
industries. Requieres a B.S. or an M.S. in plant or crop physiology or
related degree. Applicant must be qualified for a graduate degree
program. Experience needed working with metabolism or plant growth
regulation, plant tissue sampling and analysis, statistics, computer
skills, including SAS, WordPerfect, and graphic packages. Analytical
expertise with various laboratory instruments and techniques including
HPLC, GC, spectrophotometry, and plant analysis would be desirable.
Experience with cotton research and production would be useful but not
necessary. Stip-end: $13,540 (with B.S.), $15,540 (with M.S.). Send
