PHYSICS of WEATHER and CLIMATE
POSTDOCTORAL POSITION 2000
A postdoctoral position will be available within the Physics of Weather
and Climate group, starting from Spring 2000. The successful candidate
is expected to work in one (or more) of the following areas:
- Development of simplified global models of the atmosphere and the
climate
system.
- Preparation and diagnosis of numerical simulations of interannual
and
interdecadal climate variability performed with atmospheric and/or
coupled
ocean-atmosphere general circulation models.
- Impact of natural and anthropogenic climate variability on
hydrological and
agricultural resources in tropical regions.
Most of the research work will be carried out in the context of
European Union projects; in particular, the PROMISE project will be the
framework for research on natural and anthropogenic climate variability
in tropical regions, and its impacts. The full range of group

Candidates should be no more than 35 years of age at the time of
application. Appointments are usually made for one year, with the
possibility of an extension for a second year. Net salary will be based
on seniority and experience. Family allowances are available for
unemployed spouses and school age children, as well as health insurance
coverage and, depending on length of appointment, removal allowance.
