Andy is right about the intention, as Martin Maechler has said. It might be a good idea to wait a few days and try the current R-devel before reporting, as for example files sometimes get missed out of the tarball for a day or two (but no longer). The main point is to remember that the R-devel sources are not thoroughly tested and are not intended to be in working order on all platforms. (Automated testing lags a day or two behind, and fixing can lag further.) So if you are able to report something that is not obvious with an identified cause it is very helpful. -- Brian D.
