AFAIK you can emulate the "sugar" operating system used on the OLPC/XO on
Ubuntu and other Linux variants.  See
        http://wiki.laptop.org/go/Sugar_on_Ubuntu_Linux 
Maybe Doug can get Sugar running on his dvd player?
