I've tried a few things, but can't seem to track down the problem.
it's leaving core files in my package directory. (not in the .Rcheck
directory, directly in the package dir)
Well, you did INSTALL, not 'check', so there is no .Rcheck directory.
The issue is that it cannot load your package, and it seems the error is
in C++ code in the package or a dependency. You've given use very little
to go on beyond that.
