The commands I used were: ./configure MAKE=gmake --prefix=/usr/local/R --enable-R-shlib --with-x --with-gnome gmake gmake check gmake check simply hangs on: running tests of Internet and socket functions expect some differences gmake[3]: Entering directory `/usr/local/R-2.0.1/tests' running code in 'internet.R' ...
