I try to load a file

myData<- read.csv(file="C:\\myfolder\\mysubfolder\\mydata.csv",

and get this error:

Error in file(file, "rt") : cannot open the connection
In addition: Warning message:
In file(file, "rt") :
   cannot open file 'C:\myfolder\mysubfolder\mydata.csv: No such file

am I overlooking something?

I am getting the same error when I write the path in '/' notation...
Does R not tolorate drive letters?

It does, and if you can open the file with opther software, then you probably misspelled folder or filename.
