Just noticed a typo from a hasty cut-paste. Two lines should read:

casehist<-table(cut(aafd\$HBAIC[aafd\$pheno=="case"],breaks=0:15))
controlhist<-table(cut(aafd\$HBAIC[aafd\$pheno=="control"],breaks=0:15))```
