Lainey, Assumptions are always fraught. Your assumption about the "meaning" of Indian Red is simply wrong. Indian red is named for a lateritic soil in India. It isn't racist, and I have American Indian friends who have expressed disappointment at the historical facts. They also prefer "American Indian" to "Native American." So, what to do???
