I didn't know it was possible to download, update and load the package directly within R. It is pretty convenient...
Eventhough my system was not correctly set up because I cannot open any url from R I finally succeed in installing the package after downloading it directly from http://www.stat.math.ethz.ch/CRAN/bin/windows/contrib/multiv.zip
and then installing it "from a local zip file"

If your system is set up appropriately, you should be able to use the menu
"Packages -> Install Packages from Cran" to get a list of packages, then
select the desired package and press OK.
