I'd appreciate any advice people can give me on the following problem :-
I've recently started using R, as support for WinBugs software, on my PC which runs Windows XP.
Whatever I've done has resulted in the loss of the GUI display, although other functionality appears to be okay. This occurred without using WinBugs.
What does "loss of the GUI" mean? What happens when you start Rgui.exe, nothing?

Both reinstallation of R and the use of the System Restore capability of Windows XP (to return system files to the state they were in before the problem) have not solved the fault.
Any thoughts please ?
