I just built R-1.8.0 on my Linux-Mandrake 9.0 using the commands,
./configure --enable-R-shlib make make install
It all seems to have gone fine. But when I open R and use the arrow keys to try to go back to previous lines, it doesn't work. What I get instead is something like.
> ^[[A^[[A^[[A^[[A^[[A
I didn't have this problem when I installed R-1.7.1 as rpm. I could make use of the arrow keys.
