Have you read the posting guide! "http://www.R-project.org/posting-guide.html";? From www.r-project.org -> search -> R site search -> "varimax" produced 29 hits for me just now. I would expect you should find several ways to approach your problem among the results there. ("help.search('varimax') in R 1.8.1 also produced something interesting.)
