Dear All, I have been experiencing the following problem when I use a lot of system memory when using R heavily.
Everytime I shutdown the process (Xemacs and ESS), my system remains slow and sometime does not respond. I use a debian testing machine. Even when I shutdown (halt) the system, it will crash and on reboot it will check the disk for errors. I have also used gc() after I removed everything in the env. This did not make a difference. can someone guide me through a solution.
