This is a temporary state of lmer(lme4): currently p-values are not printed, 
because Douglas Bates is re-evaluating degrees of freedom estimation in his 
model, and as long he is not sure, he takes the "better missing than wrong" 
stand. 

Hope I quoted him right, the original citation is so hidden that I remember it, 
but cannot find it any more.
