which provides R 2.4.0 compiled for Ubuntu Dapper (06.06) which obviously
also runs on Ubuntu Edgy (06.10).

Thanks to Vincent, there is also a native Edgy built but we haven't quite
figured out how to get it mirrored to CRAN.  More Ubuntu volunteers would be
welcome, the r-sig-debian list is a good forum to discuss this.
