I am not sure what you mean by "in margins", if this is keeping the aspect ration, then the answer is yes. Please check EBImage, http://www.ebi.ac.uk/~osklyar/EBImage/ . The package will allow to read/write images in most image formats, the method image() redefined for the Image class will produce an image plot using R graphics device keeping the aspect ratio and display() can display images with zoom and browse functions.
