This is I assume Windows? If your version of Windows has the /3GB switch set, try starting with
Rgui --max-mem-size=2.5G (if not, that will probably not work) and see if the workspace will load (slowly). Saved workspaces are compressed, often highly compressed. I have to say I am pretty unsure about this, as you appear to have saved a 2023kb vector and how you manage to create that is unclear: perhaps you used memory.limit?
