Yes, and it's known problem -- see e.g. http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=6371251. It has been discussed on more than one occasion over at the RoSuDa devel list (http://www.rosuda.org/lists.shtml) for which questions on JGR and related projects are more appropriate than R-help.
