For some of us, the 'hassle' is typing $ sudo apt-get install atlas3-base which gives you the low-hanging fruit of basic Atlas. Locally re-building the Debian/Ubuntu package to match _your_ cpu is also supported ... but there I share the '80/20' rule sentiment that the additional work is not always worth the additional effort. But let's remind people that they have a choice.
