Dear Joris, I would suggest that you change the maintainer in DESCRIPTION and describe the change in cran-comments.md in the package root. When the new maintainer submits a new version to CRAN, you will get an email asking you to confirm the change. At least that's what I recall when changing the maintainer email address in a package.
