Is that an r-cran-* package?  In which case you should file a gentle bug
report requesting a rebuild (as the 2.14.0 snapshots are in fact in Debian
unstable from where Michael took'em).

I would reinstall bitops into /usr/local/lib/R/site-library/ rather than
downgrading R, but either way is fine.


Just to confirm, I was having the same issue using Launchpad to build packages for 11.10. The solution was to rebuild the ones causing the error (bitops in the example above) and things work fine. Could take time to find all the problem packages.
