Same here. Home now, and fired up the (older) laptop I converted. R runs fine, both the pre-trusty version I had and the trusty version once I updated the sources.list entry. That was with 32bit. I stronly suspect a local issue. We would have heard from more than one user methinks. We will try to help but it does not look systemic to me or Michael.
