I am excited to announce that we are advertising a summer school in model-based
multivariate analysis for ecologists.
The summer school is intended for PhD students, advanced master students, or
researchers that want to analyse (multivariate) data on ecological communities
with state-of-the-art statistical models. Such models have great benefits for
inference, prediction, and validation, especially compared to more classical
methods for multivariate analysis (e.g., DCA, NMDS and such). The covered
approaches will include multispecies (vector) generalised linear models and
mixed-effects models, model-based ordination, and Joint Species Distribution
Models. There will be both lectures and practical R-exercises, and some leisure
time to enjoy the beautiful scenery of Dovrefjell national park. We will focus
on fitting models with the gllvm
R-package<https://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/gllvm/index.html> , but will
additionally provide an overview of other packages available for fitting
similar models, and their pros and cons. There is limited space at the venue,
so that a maximum of 23 participants w
ill be admitted. Note that room sharing is to be expected.
Location: Basecamp Frich's Hjerkinn, Hjerkinn, Norway
Application deadline: 3 March
Dates: 21 - 25 July
