Hi everyone Instats is excited to offer a 1-day seminar, R for Beginners – Binary Outcomes: Logistic Regression <https://instats.org/seminar/r-for-beginners-part-5---binary-outcomes>, livestreaming on 26 August and led by the SMCS group from UC Louvain. Understanding binary outcomes—such as success versus failure, presence versus absence, or yes versus no—is fundamental across the social, health, and natural sciences, and logistic regression is the go-to method for modeling such data. Over the course of this hands-on workshop you’ll learn the core principles behind logistic regression, clarify how it differs from linear regression, and practice estimating models via maximum likelihood in R’s flexible, open-source environment. You’ll gain experience interpreting coefficients through odds and odds ratios, assessing model fit with tools like AIC, BIC, likelihood-ratio tests, and pseudo-R², and evaluating predictive performance using confusion matrices, ROC curves, sensitivity, and specificity. By the end of the day, you’ll be able to implement, diagnose, and communicate logistic regression models confidently, equipping you with a valuable skillset for evidence-based research and data-driven decision making.
Sign up today <https://instats.org/seminar/r-for-beginners-part-5---binary-outcomes> to secure your spot, and feel free to share this opportunity with colleagues and students who might benefit!
