Dear R-SIG-GEO

We are pleased to inform you that version 1.5.2 of the R package “sits” is now
on CRAN. The package provides an end-to-end operational support for land use
and land cover classification of big Earth observation data using machine
learning. More information is provided in the on-line book
https://e-sensing.github.io/sitsbook/

The development of “sits” would have been impossible without the strong support
of the R-SIG-GEO community, and its commitment to community services.

Our thanks to Marius Appel (gdalcubes), Robert Hijmans (terra), Jakub Nowosad
(supercells), Edzer Pebesma (sf/stars), and Martijn Tennekes (tmap). Great
work, people!

The work of Dirk Eddelbuettel (Rcpp, RcppArmadillo), Ron Wehrens (kohonen),
Daniel Falbel (torch/luz) and Hadley Wickham (tidyverse) has also been
fundamental to us.

A personal thanks to Roger Bivand, who started it all for us.

Best regards
Gilberto
