Interesting... I didn't know about this add-on.

However, I don't think I will change for the moment, since:

1) I think it lacks of some r.cost features that I really need 
(max_cost, and stop_points parameters and knight_move option)
2) The benefits in speed are noticeable with very big datasets, and with 
the use of clusters (not my situation)
3) It looked to me that r.terracost will replace r.cost in the future, 
so I better wait
4) I have to learn how to compile add-ons!

Anyway, if you would like to change and test, I will be happy to benefit 
from your experience, haha.
