Dear OSGeo users,

Arguably, you should read the GRASS book [1] carefully first, then consider using GRASS mailing lists - use of the R interface is discussed in chapter 10. Basic use of the interface as of January 2009 is also shown on a screen video [2]. A mailing list is not a good place to give hands-on training from the ground up. The questions below also suggest that getting to know file systems might be a helpful thing to do before reading the GRASS book.

Hope this helps,

Roger

Thanks in advance.

I need your assistance to work with the above data set. I have installed this
data set from http://casoilresource.lawr.ucdavis.edu/drupal/node/438. This is a
winzip file and I have extracted all files into the directory \speafish60
directory. The files structure after extraction is like this:

- \speafish60\PERMANANENT
 - \speafish60\PERMANANENT\bdlg
 - \speafish60\PERMANANENT\cats
 - \speafish60\PERMANANENT\cell
 - and so on
- \speafish60\user1

I have installed R-2.10.1 on windows XP.

I have installed http://trac.osgeo.org/osgeo4w/.

I am able to interact with GRASS and R.

# set region in GRASS

g.region rast=elevation.dem

I have issued this command at Cmd > at GRASS GIS Layer Manager Window.

But I have received the error below:

ERROR: Raster map <elevation.dem> not found

How can I change the directory name in GRASS to access the data.

Once again, thank you very much for the time you have given.

I am looking forward for your reply.

Regards,

Deb
