Jose Claudio-- It would be helpful to let the user change the entire command line associated with (pdf)tex. I use VTeX, and the command line I use to get PDF output is d:\vtex\bin\vtex3h.exe -$p(f=cf,c=9,g=f,t=f -ov -ox2 -n1 @latexcm %$ where %$ is replaced by the file name. A similar command is used to get DVI, and to view DVI, I use d:\vtex\bin\vtexwd.exe %$ So in my case at least, more flexibility is needed than an option change for "latex".
