I cannot replicate this with the CRAN build of R -- here R version 2.14.0 alpha (2011-10-10 r57211). Assuming that your reproducible example is R <Ctrl><Z> fg It works just fine (both xterm and Terminal). So a) can you, please, check the CRAN build of R and see if you see the same problem? b) provide exact details about how you compiled R (configure flags) as well as all 3rd part libraries you used so we can try to reproduce it?
