That error comes from the system stub - rJava doesn't even know that there is a 
problem - the system pretends that there is Java already installed but instead 
of loading it it shows the message, so I fear our options are limited. Apple 
has been silently making this worse - before Yosemite the message contained a 
button that sent you to the page with the download link.
