I've been generally pleased with OS X. My main problem (not so much R related) is that many of the scientific applications I would like to run on my machine don't like the UNIX "based" operating system and require significant tweaking in order to get them to compile correctly (if I can get them running at all). It would be nice if OS X behaved more like standard UNIX or LINUX.
