I'm still having difficulty compiling a package on my desktop, that works fine on my laptop. [thanks for the offline help, guys!] The desktop machine is a ppc architecture but I can't seem to stop R CMD build from trying to do the i386 compilations; script cut-and-pasted below. I have even removed /Library/Frameworks/R.framework/Resources/etc/i386/Makeconf [with a view to stopping any 386 architecture compilations]. but R CMD build complains about not being able to find it.
