Simon,

Thanks for the tip.  I kept digging through old messages and found  
another person who had a similar problem.  your advice was to:

sudo rm /usr/local/lib
sudo mv '/usr/local/lib 1' /usr/local/lib

Now everything installed properly, including tcl/ck, etc.  Thanks for  
the tip, and I hope this helps someone else.  Now if I could just get  
Rgrphviz to work!
