It is a bug, and I assume that from Simon's message he has it fixed
and it will appear on CRAN in a day or two. Maybe earlier at http://R.research.att.com/
For the meantime, you can either:
1. Go back to 2.7.2
2. Download the packages as binaries directly from CRAN and install
using the Package Installer
3. Install from the command line.
4. Install from Source using the Package Installer if you have XCode
installed.
5. Go hiking.
