I'm one of those who finds that updating R loses the user-installed
libraries, and these need to be reinstalled.
Just moved to 2.8 ((downloaded 2.nov, thank you for work on this Simon
and others!), and when downloading libraries with the "install
dependencies" option in the gui (cmd-option-I), R hangs (spinning
wheel of death) and does not come back.
Seems that grabbing packages one at a time works.
