R 2.8.1 for Mac OS X 10.4 and higher was released on 12/22 and is
available from CRAN.
This update is recommended for all users. If you have installed R
2.8.0 before, you can use the smaller file (R-2.8.1-mini.dmg) to
upgrade. Users of older versions have to use the large image
(R-2.8.1.dmg).
Besides issues mentioned in NEWS for R 2.8.1 this update also improves
the compatibility with 3rd party binary package providers and
addresses an issue where a few packages did not have a working CRAN
binary for R 2.8.0.
