If the problem is with X11, as Simon suggested, you might be better off installing the x11 package distributed by MacOsForge: http://xquartz.macosforge.org/trac/wiki
This is the official Apple X11 development site. It just happens to be a few months ahead of the official releases. These distributions of X11 are known to be more compliant with Unix software distributed via fink and Macports, for example. Is there some bug in the R2.9.1 version that prevents tcltk from loading? Is there a way to fix this?
