You have not included sessionInfo(), so you are on your own as far as
picking the correct version, but the ATT Research site has versions of
GTK+ that match the R 2.10.1 compilation headers or connection points
or whatever they are properly called.

On an OSX 10.5.8 machine that GTK+ 2.18.5 framework and rattle in R
2.10.1 peacefully co-exist at least to the extent of letting rattle
boot up and display its dialog box.

Edit:
I think I am a little step further now. If I try to rattle() I am
asked whether I want to install GTK+ or not. If I do so I get the

Learn more about GTK+ at http://www.gtk.org
If the package still does not load, please ensure that GTK+ is
installed and that it is on your PATH environment variable
IN ANY CASE, RESTART R BEFORE TRYING TO LOAD THE PACKAGE AGAIN
I guess the marked line is where the problem is. I had issues with
pathnames before when interacting with RPostgreSQL, so this could
possibly be the case here too. Can I change the pathname somehow ?

Dear all,
I read about rattle in the most recent issue of the R Journal and
wanted to test it. As described in the manual I installed Gtk
before, which does work. I know that it works because I used ggobi
outside of R which claims to need to same package. Anyway I did
install rattle using
install.packages("rattle") which installed the package and several
dependencies.
as well as
install.packages("RGtk2"
and I did restart my console.
When I wanted to start rattle by typing rattle() to the console it
just says:
Error in .Call(name, ..., PACKAGE = PACKAGE) :
C Symbolname "S_gtk_about_dialog_get_type" not in DLL für Paket
"RGtk2"
I always thought DLL are for windows? Did I get the wrong version
somehow?
Thx in advance for any suggestions !
best
bunny
