Hi guys, In our meetings, we need to get closer to our mission - supporting and promoting Rochester area spec fic writers and spec fic in general. Jonathan, Craig and I have been tossing around some more ideas for revamping our meetings.
These ideas include: - A monthly calendar update on Rochester and online community spec events, like Push's Dracula - A round-the-room discussion on what everyone is writing, with time each meeting for one person to present more detailed information on their work and struggles/victories that they find (maybe 10 minutes) - Scheduled readings from our own writers - A more organized resource for the new writer that comes in looking for support - matching the new person with a member for a stronger connection - More on screenwriting and how it relates to new media - Big, comfy chairs rather than folding chairs - Every once in awhile having a meeting just to socialize, wander the store, check out the books and talk, with no meeting topic. An opportunity to find connections with each other. - New "Session Leaders" - people that would like to facilitate group discussions, not as a presenter, but as a discussion leader What do you all think of these? What other ideas do you have for accomplishing our mission through our meetings? projects?
