As far as I'm concerned, Facebook is an absolutely horrible medium for carrying on discussions, through wall postings, forums or otherwise. I much prefer email. Email comes to the place I tell it to come -- all of it lands in the same place, and I can deal with it (or not) in the same place as all the other stuff I do. To my way of thinking, it's actually a far better means of carrying on discussions than Facebook would be.
Plus, it would be a totally different group of people, unless we got everyone on this list to go sign up for Facebook. I personally wouldn't recommend that anyone get involved in Facebook at this point unless they had a compelling reason to do so, so I would personally not sign up for any course of action that placed an onus upon people to sign up for Facebook. Google Groups allows you to deal with the email through a web interface or through email, It's pretty much a clone of Yahoo Groups in that regard. We have some participants who have Google accounts and some who don't. If we did this through Facebook, everyone would have to have a facebook account and you'd all have to deal with the group via Facebook.
