The thing is, there is already something like this going on. There's a
real need for it, in this case, but immune-compromised patients and
other people who are confined to their home/hospital/etc. are using
telepresence robots to go to school and do other stuff. They are
ambulatory and are mounted with audio and cameras, possibly screens to
show who's operating the things. Here's an example:
