We had a great meeting last night. Eric, Frank, and Alan brought their own material along to read aloud. These stories were truly inspiring with intriguing ideas and thoughtful crafting.
We went through some ideas we have for meetings over the next year. Eric, who is poised to become our new Program Officer, is committed to keeping quarterly reading nights in the line-up. He will be getting a list of other ideas out soon. Please contact him if you have an idea for a meeting topic. Ruhan and Alan are heading to Chicago at the end of August for WorldCon. Ruhan will be on two panels this year. He highly recommends the Winner of the 2012 Science Fiction and Fantasy Translation Award, Short Story: "The Fish of Lijiang" by Chen Qiufan, translated by Ken Liu Available for reading and listening here: http://clarkesworldmagazine.com/chen_08_11/ We also had a lively discussion of recent events such as the Olympics and Curiosity's landing on Mars.
