Astronomicon was a success for R-SPEC thanks to all the hard work by our boardmembers and their families. Alan made sure that we had beautiful signage and posters all over the hotel for our group and our books. Great advertising! Ted and David did an outstanding job in the final stretch of producing the new antho, going the extra mile to sure that we had copies in time to sell. The books made it to us a whole day before the con. Whew!
Janice provided clever R-SPEC fortune cookies to give away. They were quite a hit. Eric, Lynn, Ted, and I brought breakfast for the con suite on Saturday to embody our group's sponsorship of the con. Lynn's Scoth Eggs and Ted's Pain du Chocolate (from his story in the antho) were absolutely delicious. You guys can make me breakfast any day ;-). Eric spent the whole weekend at the con even in the midst of NaNoWriMo. Dude, with a minimum of 1667 words a day to log each day this month, your sacrifice of time was particularly notable. Jenny grabbed us the best table in the Dealers' Room. David, Alan, Jenny and Ruhan's wife, Xi Wei (I apologize for mispelling) all staffed it, where we sold 29 books! That includes four copies of Ted's antho Strangely Funny and a copy of Craig's newly published novel, The Gods of Earth. Craig, Muxing, Ted, Kurt and I led a panel discussion "Spec Fic in Your Backyard" on the enduring use of familiar settings for crafting stories even in the Internet Age. Eric chipped in with lots to say from the audience. Frank recorded it all. We were so proud to have Muxing Zhao with us on his first panel! The youngest author to publish in a pro market is also a thoughtful and articulate speaker. Great job, Muxing! The whole board worked hard organizing and executing our part in Astronomicon 2013 and as a direct result, we had our act together. Please pipe up if I inadvertently left anyone out that deserves a thanks. Many, many thanks to Wayne Brown for putting on the con and inviting us to participate. We had a great time! You guys rocked this con. Alicia -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "R-SPEC: The Rochester Speculative Literature Association" group.
