Is this problem anything to do with the option of selecting FAT or NTFS file systems when installing Windows XP?  I don't quite understand why one must choose, but apparently it's something to do with running older 16-bit files along with newer 32-bit files.  I've suspected that I chose the wrong one when installing Windows XP, and now I can't remember which one I selected, whether it's significant, and whether it can be reversed if I set up the wrong one!  Oh for the relatively simple days of MS-Dos, or better still, CPM.

Subject: [racebase] 16 bit MS-DOS subsystem error

2 people using Win XP have reported an error in the last 7 days when trying to run racebase. They have previously been running it with no problems, but now comes up with :

16 bit MS-DOS subsystem
c:\windows\system32\autoexec.nt
The system file is not suitable for running MS-Dos and microsoft windows applications.

There is quite a bit on the net about this error. Like at :

Apparently this is some sort of trojan virus.
You can fix the problem by copying the file autoexec.nt from the
c:\windows\repair folder to your c:\windows\system32 folder.
If you get this problem and need help to fix it, give me a call. 07 8248231
