Title: Re: [racebase] All Up Comp
MMMmmmm .... There was a story going around in the sixties that the eldest brother had been jilted at the alter by one of the local school teachers ... Teachers were a great source of wives for young men in the fifties and sixties for farmers. After reading that fine bit of poetry I am quite inclined to believe that rumour now ..... Muz

I lay me doon and dee.

Well, Muz, it seems that Annie Laurie is an extremely promising type . . . and her backers are willing to risk everything on her.

I once knew these two brothers in Matamata who were  dairy farmers ... Both batchelors ... I first met them in 1965 and just  picking up an old Weekly News off the couch in their front room was an  education ... Some of them were dated in the forties and fifties ... Anyway  the eldest bro Alan was nuts on Pedigree Jersey cows and Thoroughbred racing  horses and the youngest bro did all the work. To cut a short story shorter one  of the horses they raced and owned successfully was named Annie Laurie so my  all up bet for tomorrow is ...
